Welcome to the Princeton University Math Competition 2009 page. Preparations for PUMaC 2009 are well underway! PUMaC 2009 is scheduled for November 21, 2009.

Contents

The Main Competition

Teams of eight high school students compete against one another in individual, team, and proof-based math assessments. More information regarding specific tests and the rules of the competition will be added in the very near future. Although the rules will be similar to last year's competition, there will be some noteworthy changes. For more information, please consult the Official Main Competition Rules 2009.

The Power Competition

For teams what will be unable to make it on site to PUMaC, we are offering a Power-test-only competition. Teams of eight would take the Power Test during the same time frame as those participating in the Main Competition, except that they will be sending us their solutions and ONLY be competing in a separate Power-Round-only division. We hope, this year, to welcome many International Teams in this competition. A more detailed description of this competition can be found at Official Power Competition Rules 2009.

Registration

Normal registration is scheduled to open in early September, and late registration will begin mid-October. Registration will close either when the competition reaches its capacity or at 11:59 PM eastern time on October 30th.

Teams will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Initially, each high school, region, or organization will only be allowed to register two teams. Coaches will be contacted when space becomes available for more teams.

Specific information regarding registration can be found at the Registration Guidelines page.

MiniEvents

This year, we will be offering many different minievents while the competition tests are compiled and graded. We will offer the following minievents:

  • Math Bowl
  • Rubiks cube
  • Useless Math Olympiad
  • Chess

Specific information on each minievent will be added in the near future.

Sponsors

PUMaC would not be half the competition it is without the help of our sponsors. We wish to thank each of our sponsors for their support of this year's competition:
